In obtaining that perfect body weight, the diet we are on or the food we are eating plays an important role in the whole process. All of us have different body types and hence the diet we take up must also be suitable so that in the process of losing the excess weight we do not end up becoming malnourished or protein deficient and also keeping in mind any previous health issues.
Luckily today there are multiple diets available to choose from, depending on our personal requirements. If one is on a weight loss diet one must choose a diet that does not involve any drastic changes in ones eating habits such as elimination of complete food groups. The diet should not involve any kind of starvation or deprivation as it can later lead to eating disorders, binging and intense cravings. While losing weight through dieting one has to be sure to eat healthy so that the weights lose is permanent. The diet should be well balanced involving a lot of food groups high in fiber and carbohydrates. A lot of water to avoid dehydration. The correct quantity of mineral and vitamins. Also a certain amount of protein and fat to avoid muscle degeneration. All this should be carefully calculated and added to the diet.
During and post pregnancy a women's body undergoes a lot of changes and the diet she is on plays an important role in maintaining her good health as she is not only eating for herself but also for her baby. Post pregnancy one does not recommend the mother to go on a weight loss diet to lose the weight she has gained during her pregnancy because if she is breast feeding the baby is also dependent on her for nutrition. The mother must concentrate on eating protein rich food high in vitamins and minerals. The myth that if a mother who is breast feeding her child eats fat rich food produces better quality milk is completely untrue and should be ignored however a mother who is not eating a well balanced diet her milk quality will be affected.
In a diet for a diabetic it is extremely important that the diet have the appropriate amount of carbohydrates and proteins. However saturated fats should be kept to a minimum so as to not put the individual at risk for heart problems. In the dietary plan of a diabetic the protein intake should be maintained to 20% or less of the everyday calorie intake. A diabetic's diet plan should aim at maintaining blood glucose levels at 70-140mg/dl, cholesterol levels at 200mg/dl or less and blood pressure at 120/80 mm Hg.
